Pomegranate came from central Asia with
Buddhism. The pomegranate patterns used in decoration have something to
do with religion.
In Buddhism, pomegranate patterns are deified and are often combined with palm leaf which is compared to holy tree and lotus which is compared to holy flower. The fruit of pomegranate is arranged into a lotus throne with palm leaves and lotus leaves on each side. The Buddhas holding pomegranate branches in their hands in Tang Dynasty are gods of peace and conjugal love.
Pomegranate has a lot of seeds. The implication of good harvest and the Persians patterns come down in one line. So, pomegranate pattern is widely loved and used.
